The Online National Women’s health Research Database contains demographic data of populations served by affiliated clinics and programs for the Centers of Excellence in Women’s Health and Community Centers of Excellence in Women’s Health nationwide. ONWRD also contains information about research interests, specialties, biographical sketches and publications of personnel working in each CoE/CCOE and/or affiliate clinics and programs. ONWRD houses information about clinical trials and women's health fellowships as well.
Why use ONWRD?
ONWRD allows researchers at disparate locations to identify potential research sites at CoE/CCOE institutions that serve populations of interest for clinical research. Descriptive information housed in ONWRD can also be useful to include in funding proposal narratives that require background information on institutional capacity.
Users will find listings of specialty clinics and associated demographic data (age, gender and race/ethnicity distribution) of populations in all the clinics and programs served by the Centers of Excellence and Community Centers of Excellence in Women’s Health nationwide.

- How do I register to use ONWRD?
To register, follow this link to register
yourself as an ONWRD user. You must enter your LAST name in
the look up box to ensure you have not already been entereed into
ONWRD. Once it has been determined if your information was previously
entered, you may fill out a user profile form including selecting
a password. Once you have selected a password you may use your
email address and password to log into ONWRD.
- What is the difference between a CoE and CCOE?
A CoE or Center of Excellence is an academic
health center that provides integrated and comprehensive women's
health. A CCOE or Community Center of Excellence is a community-based
organization integrated with a local hospital or health system
to provide comprehensive healthcare services.
- Do I have to be affiliated with a CoE or CCOE
to use ONWRD?
ONWRD is free and open to the public. You do
not have to be affiliated with a CoE/ CCOE to use ONWRD. However,
when you register, you must select ‘No Affiliation” when completing
your user profile.
- Why should I use ONWRD if I’m not affiliated
with a CoE or CCOE?
The National Centers and Community Centers of
Excellence in Women’s Health can provide access to diverse populations
in a wide geographic area for research and clinical trials. In
addition to women's health issues, many of the Centers access
populations capable of researching sex & gender differences.
- How often will data in ONWRD be updated?
Information such as contact information, research
interests, biographical sketches, lists of publications, institutional
addresses and phone numbers may be changed at any time. An administrator
at each CoE and CCOE will be asked to provide updated demographic
information by calendar year. Data for the previous calendar year
should be entered by the end of January of the following year.
- What is the RCC?
The Research Coordinating Center (RCC) for the
National Centers and National Community Centers of Excellence
in Women’s Health serves as a central point of contact for investigators
at CoE and CCOE's seeking collaborative multi-site research projects.
Together, the Centers serve a wide variety of socio-economic,
ethnic and racially diverse populations of women located throughout
the US. Many of the Centers have experience in recruiting women
from their own clinical programs into clinical research. Visit
