The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) and partner organizations
are sponsoring a national campaign called The Heart Truth. The purpose
of The Heart Truth Campaign and its centerpiece, the Red Dress Project,
is to make women and health care professionals more aware of the large
health risks of and solutions to heart disease in women. One aspect of
the campaign's goal is to give health care providers the knowledge they
need to educate and care for women at risk for heart disease and with
already established disease...in short, to improve heart health and care
for women.
The University of Wisconsin is working with the University of Michigan
and the Northeast Ohio Neighborhood Health Services with overall goal
of the project to develop a web-based online professional education program
on heart health and disease in women with the express purpose of providing
health care providers with information based upon a thorough review of
the science.
